Have you ever lost something that you scrambled to find? Maybe you lost your keys as you headed out the door. Or misplaced a silly item such as your favorite pen that you cannot live without. You let the process of finding the object consume you to the point that the seeking became more important than the finding. Everything was pushed aside until the beloved item was found.

When this happens to me, snapshots of where I last saw the object flash through my mind. I immediately run to those places usually in vain. Recalling visually is my way of seeking when a lost object does not want to be found. What do you do when the process of uncovering the lost object is not successful? How do you maintain a posture of seeking when the way gets hard?

The New Year seems to be the perfect time to seek. New beginnings lend themselves to new ways to improve or grow. When you fall back on looking for answers to discover more of yourself, the striving becomes the focus rather than the outcome.

[Tweet “Leaning intentionally toward God in a posture of receiving allows Him to work in amazing ways.”]

This year as I listen and discover God’s purpose for me I am focusing on the seeking. When I seek God with my whole heart, I am telling Him that He is more important than all the results. For it is in the seeking, God provides more than we could ever imagine. The blessings of leaning in intentionally toward God and sitting in a posture of receiving allows Him to work in amazing ways.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33-34

The time spent listening and leaning in opens up the possibilities of how God will work within and through us. When our focus is on the seeking, we put ourselves in God’s Hands believing He will help us find the lost and show us the way.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

God’s joy for us is in the mundane connections of real life with His amazing story. We receive blessings when we participate in the process. May you find joy in the seeking this year believing that God will find the lost and broken and make them whole again.

Blessings in the seeking,
