And so – we write for five minutes, our words tumbling out – no editing, no polishing – just flat out on a one word prompt! We gather all our beautiful thoughts here in our Five Minute Friday community and then love on each other as only we can do! Click here to learn all about it.

Home is where the Five Minute Friday community gathers so please join us at Kate Motaung’s for our Friday fun!

FEAR

GO…

As I have studied bravery this year and looked at it from every angle possible, the one constant that pops up right in the middle is fear. You are probably wondering how that is possible since fear would be the opposite of bravery, but when digging deep into what it means to be brave, you must first face your fears.

Fear steals bravery

Fear threatens to break down all you are building up

Fear sneaks in when you least expect it

Fear is the absence of God as your presence

Matthew 14-29

As I dug into bravery through a church wide study and as the next logical step in my life, I have learned so much about myself.

I am brave when I cling to God and His promises as my truth. I am brave when I join in community to face fears with others rather than alone. I am brave when I open my heart wide to saying “yes” to God and His possibilities for my life. I am brave because God comes along side me and strengthens me with His grace and love.

Until you take the time to face your fears and replace them with faith, your brave is nothing but a word that you say in conversation instead of a word that is your action. We are brave children of God because He chose us to be and lovingly provides us with all we need to take that step out of the boat straight into His arms.

But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. Matthew 14:27-29

Let us all face our fears like Peter and keep our eyes focused on Jesus as we take that first step out of the boat.

In grace and peace,

Mary
